Pelletier Farm was the recipient of the St. John Valley Soil and Water Conservation District’s 2012 Outstanding Conservation Farm of the Year award.

The Pelletier Farm invested in building BMP (Best Management Practices) structures to prevent soil erosion from their farmland in the  area around McLean Brook. Danny Pelletier stepped forward and agreed to participate in the McLean Brook Watershed Best Management Practices Implementation Project.  The brook runs through several areas where the Pelletiers are farming.  It eventually runs into Long Lake.

Several entities were involved in seeing the project come to fruition including the town of St. Agatha, Natural Resource Conservation Services, Environmental Protection Agency, Maine Department of Transportation, St. John Valley Soil and Water Conservation District,

Maine Department of Environmental Protection, Kathy Hoppe, Devon Michaud, and local landowners.
