The farmstand was designed and built by students from Dartmouth and Middlebury colleges, as part of their summer retreat. The students worked with their instructors to design and build the structure in one week. Then it was transported by boat from Bear Island (where they spent the week) to Islesboro.

The farm stand will be open from mid-June to the last week in August in 2014.

Last summer, the Horticulture Program participated as a mobile vendor at the Islesboro Farmers Market; which was held on Fridays from 9 a.m. -1 p.m.  In the summer of 2014, they will primarily be at the farmstand at the school.  They will be selling a variety of other products including local meats, breads, and potted plants. The stand and gardens are managed by Ryan Martin and their two paid summer interns.
